Hi David, Thanks I will look into the Victorian Archives.
William Snowling Stearn was my husbands Great Grandfather.I have alot of info on him but not how he got to Victoria. The story goes he went over because he had 2 brothers living there (Daniel & Edward) both convicts & finally ended up in Wangaratta where he died 22/11/1912 .William Snowling & Catherine had 7 children I have all of their births/deaths/marriages but one of them also a William Snowling Stearn I have never been able to find his birth (About 1863)or his marriage to Alice Edwina Mclauchlan possibly in SA I know his 1st born was Muriel born in 1897 in Norwood I have his death certificate

I have my tree on Ancestry I do know of Bob McKinnon we often have contact.

The name change to West was with Thomas Alfred Stearn my husbands Grandfather (WSS third born)who came over to live in WA with his family after his 4th child was born, the story goes he was involved in a death from a travelling boxing show but as stories goes they do get changed over the years don't they? I have never been able to find the true reason for the names change but know it wasn't changed legally
Kind Regards
