My great-grandfather, John Charles Cartledge (regularly called Jack), was from Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, UK, with roots descending from Derbyshire (possibly the hamlet called Cartledge). He was married to Nora (nee Bellis or Stonebridge [one was her adopted surname]) and had two sons, Peter and Graham (Graham born in Rochester, Kent). Graham is my grandfather. John Charles served England during the second world war. All I know about his role is that he would fix plains that had fallen out of the air, and eventually get them back up and running.
The family migrated to Adelaide, Australia in 1949. John Charles was the son of a John Charles (presumably named after his father). He had at least 3 known siblings - Alec (or Alex), Betty (or Anne) and Albert. If anyone knows any more information on this family, please reply or email me on yianni.cartledge@hotmail.com , I know plenty about my ancestry on my mother's side, but my father's side (the Cartledge side) I know barely anything about. Thanks!
