Thanks for your email Peter.
What a strange coincidence, those 3 names so closely linked to you.
I have only gone back as far as Thomas O'Brien, mine was born around 1757, he came out to Sydney in 1796 as I think my original email said. I don't know if Thomas left behind a wife or whether he married in Sydney because his marriage certificate to Margaret Connelly in 1810 states he was a widower. Who knows if Thomas had family ie brothers/sisters or children from a first marrige that he left behind in Ireland. Who knows if they immigrated to anywhere else in the world. I've got logs of 'who knows' but then that is the name of the game. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my posting. Apart from travelling to Ireland to conduct research, or, engage a professional genealogist to do it for me, I've no other avenue than to leave messages in the hope that someone will find me rather than me find them.
I have only just started to touch on my Mee research and I've got very little Connelly info other than Margarets was sentenced in 1804 in County Down, transported on the Experiment 2 in 1809 and had a previous surname of Brennan and one record I viewed states she was a widow at the time of marriage in 1810.
