Hi David,
I can't see a ship named the Gypsy Rose arriving into Australia before 1840, can you tell us the date and which port?
A possible for a daughter's death in Victoria in 1859
Mary ROWBOTTOM
Aged 10
Father: John
Mother: Deborah
Registration Number: 67t1
The surviving census in Tasmania shows a John ROWBOTTOM at New Norfolk in 1848.His wife was born in the colony and he was an "other free person".This means he did not arrive free. They were both aged between 21 and 45 and there were no children.Taswegians didn't make a habit of registering their children, but the church registers for New Norfolk (held at Tas Archives) might show some baptisms.
