WILLIAM K. BRYANT
I am looking for information on William K. Bryant, born William Keen Bryant in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia in 1839; the son of Samuel Bryant and Sara Keen. At age thirteen William signed aboard the famous ship “Victory”.
He served in the Crimean War as a boy the Chinese war, the Maori Wars of New Zealand andlater participated in the American Civil War .
After the war William found himself in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and in June 1882 William Keen Bryant was married to Ellen/Hellen Jenkins in Bristol, Pennsylvania. In 1903 William was found living in the Goodna subdivision of Churchill, Queensland bordering Ipswich; working as a coal miner. William K. Bryant lived in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia until he died at 97 years of age on March 27, 1936.
I need information to compile a memorial story for him so he can be placed on the Australian Veterans Memorial website; www.acwv.info.
Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Respectfully,
James M. Gray
