Thanks for the info Steve. I went to lookup your email it is hidden but thats ok mine is not if you would like to communicate through my email it would be alright. I have been ona hunt for John Alderton supposedly born 1806 Langham Essex for the past 2 years. Even though it is time consuming and very painstaking I have had fun. I have met heaps of relatives along the way and found out lots of information about the family that I did not know about. I have collected lots of documentary evidence from the Kew Records Office (John's Court Marshall Proceedings), from the Quebec Archives ( A Record of John's Imprisonment for desertion in the British Army, Parish records of Langham from 1805 to 1810, his TOL, his Pardon, his MC, and his DC but none of these state his village where he was born in Essex. I was going to purchase the Transportation regisers from Ancestry .com that were put together by J Reakes however they have family input and are not primary source material that was submitted totally by the convict himself. Heresay is not altogether accurate unless you have nothing else to go on. The reason I am getting a little desperate after 2 years is that my father is 82 years old and we have been doing a family history tour of his ancestors early life in the Windsor area of NSW. I would really like to confirm for him the origin of his grt grand father. If I can confirm that John Alderton was born abt 1806 in Langham Essex, I can also use the Parish Records of Langham which I have purchased to confirm that John and Elizabeth Alderton married in 1805 in Langham were his parents from here I have proof that goes back to 1719 of his grt X 4 grand parents but for my children it grt X 7 over 300 years of family history hows that?
So that is why I was interested to know if the convict indents were corrupted by other input later in history. My next question is do you have easy access to the microfische that has the convict indents on them because if you do I was wondering if you would be able to get me a copy of them. If we can corespond by my email and you would be willing to get me a copy of the original I would gladly pay you for the copy and your time as I am unable to get into the city to the State Archives Office at the moment and I am champing at the bit to confirm this last piece of the puzzle.
