Thank you for that Debbie. Unfortunately Williams convict indents didn't state a religion. He was married in St Georges Church of England in Tas, but this may have been because it was the only church available. l do know his bride was RC, so l'd have thought a RC marriage if such an establishment was in the area ???

William is proving to be a pain in the proverbial to research as some of the info appears to be inconsistant.

As previously said, William was transported aboard the Francis Charlotte, which had over 140 boys on the journey.
According to Williams convict indents he attended school once in Tasmania, was usually in trouble for something and hence spent a lot of time in solitary confinement and often received 'stripes on the breach' for his troubles. l understand this to be translated as receiving the cane on his backside.

However, the sheet recording his physical appearance listed his age as 17, with tattoos of mermaids and anchors on his arms. But only 4 ft 8 inches in height, and his occupation is a farm lad from Preston.

l'm tending towards the 1826 birth, as a 17 yr old would not have been sent to school, but l do have to keep an open mind. What l'd give to spend a few hours in Lanc's record office.
