Hello Colleen,
Probably not? If your Stra(c)hans trace back to Ballymena Antrim (Parish of Kirkinriola), (Drummaul, Ahoghill) in Northern Ireland it might be possible?
I have my great grandparents, David & Sarah Strachan (nee Christie) coming out around 1885 to Cowra, NSW. Around the same time, Davids younger brother, Henry Strahan also came out and married Eliza Christie in Cowra, NSW 1890. Eliza was either Sarah's sister or cousin.
At the same time, suggested as gospel but unproven at this stage, another brother also came out and was supposed to settle in the Galong district of NSW. His name was Robert Stra(c)han, known apparently to previous generations as Galong Bob. This Robert and his brothers had a falling out and never spoke to each other again (hint= Orange & Green problems).
There was also at least 1 other brother that went to the USA/Canada areas at this time.
The parents of the above Stra(c)han brothers were Henry & Jane Strahan (nee Gardiner)
Whether any sisters came out, I do not know, the eldest in the family was a Mary Stra(c)han b. 1856 who married a Robert Woods and settled in Larne, Ireland then Glasgow area of Scotland.
Kind Regards
Craig
