Hi Joan,
I think I have found two of your missing three CHILDS family.
On the WW2 Nominal Roll there is a William John CHILDS born 1918 at Enmore in Sydney, his next of kin is listed as Annie MOON.
Frederick E CHILDS married Annie M O'BRIEN in 1916 at Newtown,Sydney.
I found an Annie CHILDS married a James MOON in 1948 at Newtown,Sydney.
I found an Annie M O'BRIEN born 1894 with O'BRIEN spelt as O'BRIAN,which reads as recorded on NSW BDM's:
32821/1894 - O'BRIAN - ANNE M - GEORGE C - MARGARET M - TARALGA.
This Anne M O'BRIAN is buried at Rookwood Cemetery as Anne May MOON died 28/10/1976 aged 82,buried with her are George Cashel O'BRIEN died 28/12/1922 aged 58,Margaret O'BRIEN died 20/12/1955 aged 84,Gerard Cashel O'BRIEN died 8/6/1929 aged 30,Martin O'BRIEN died 16/8/1936 aged 64,William O'BRIEN died 15/6/1953 aged 71,Thomas O'BRIEN died 2/9/1953 aged 52.
I also found this entry on the Ryerson Indexes -
CHILDS - William John - Death notice - 01JAN1990 - Death - 71 -late of Toukley - formerly of Newtown - Sydney Morning Herald - 05JAN1990.
This is William John CHILDS' wife -
CHILDS - Norine Grace - Death notice - 06OCT1992 - Death -78 - late of Norah Head - Sydney Morning Herald - 07OCT1992.
Marriage listed on NSW BDM's -
6648/1950 - CHILDS - WILLIAM JOHN - HAYES - NORINE GRACE - KOGARAH.
James MOON died 27/4/1949 aged 78 and is buried at Rookwood Cemetery.James is buried with his first wife Jemima E MOON(recorded as Elizabeth J on the Rookwood Cemetery records)and two of his children James W MOON died 23/1/1904 aged 2 and Ruby Beryl MOON died 29/1/1948 aged 40.
If you are able to obtain access to copies of the Sydney Morning Herald for the deaths of these people,I am confident you would be able to put this family together and confirm it with Anne May MOON's death certificate or her marriage certificate to James MOON,which would list her as either divorced or a widow.
Hope this will solve your dilemma,
Regards,
Liz.
