Michelle, Sorry I have confused you George de la Montague had children with Jeannie Anna SHOEST which I have listed in the previous message Adelaide Elizabeth & her two siblings (there were 3 children born to this couple) George (the father) could have been born anywhere but he came from a british port when he came to australia This only means where the ship came from not the person Adelaide and George did not have children together - Adelaide was his daughter Adelaides birth was listed under SHOEST and de la Montague which suggests that it was a birth to her mother when unmarried. If they were married it would be listed under the fathers surname only It is crossreferenced in the index to link them to each other by a letter R following the registration number It means that her birth was listed under both names I cannot find any further info on this family in victoria after these births so possibly they went somewhere else and as you know Adelaide married in Paris Hope this clarifies it but let me know if you have any further queries Not sure what you mean by "who is Jean" If you mean Jeannie she is Adelaides mother and if you mean Jean that is my name at the bottom of the posting Jean Notify Administrator about this message?
