Hello Cathy, My Clendinnings came from Donegal/Fermanagh area of Northern Ireland. The grandfather of the family was William Clendinning and grandmother Fanny Smith. I've not been able to find anything on them at all. My mother is in contact with her Clendinning cousins but I think they are all female. Pity, the DNA thing would have been interesting. I had heard about the original Clenny's coming from Scotland, but it's hard enough trying to research Ireland in the early 1800's and back, so I don't think I'll ever get to trace them back to Scotland.
