Hi Jodie,
I'm having a bit of trouble with my computer in recent days... every time I get a break through, it crashes!
What I have so far in the Mannix-Liddy connections:
(Sorry if I repeat myself, but it's all very confusing at times!)
Michael Liddy married Mary Maria Gilmour in 1885 (I think!), they then had 4 children I know of - Michael Stephen, Thomas H (b. 1892), Kate and Margaret. Michael Stephen married my great-grandmother, Lillie May Bunting in 1912. They had 2 children, Sylvia and Theodore Liddy. From what I gather, they divorced, as Michael Stephen died in 1942. Lillie went on to marry my great-grandfather Nicolai Rasmussen, a Danish immigrant in 1919. They had 2 sons, Carl and Nic jr. Nicolai also went on to adopt Sylvia and Theo, therefore they were known as Rasmussen. They lived in the Marrickville area, close to Thomas Liddy's family.
Thomas Liddy married Marjorie May Quinn. They had at least 2 daughters I know of. Evelyn Felicity Liddy and Marjorie May Liddy, a third possible daughter being Kathleen Mary Liddy (married John W.Tierney). Evelyn was my grandmother - she married Nic Rasmussen in 1942. Marjorie apparently married Clement Mannix, although later married Thomas Edward Knott in 1940. This is strange for us to learn, as in the marriage certificate, Marjorie was named Mannix rather than Liddy, however she didn't have her son Clement until 1956, and he was a Mannix. Marjorie continued being known as Mannix until 1982, then reverted to Liddy. She died in 1987 as Marjorie Liddy-Mannix.
Another possible Mannix connection is Anna Maria Mannix, married to James H Gould in 1864. I am still in early days of this reaserch, but the possible connection is with my great grandmother Lillie May Rasmussen (Nee Bunting-Liddy). My great-great-grandmother was Annie May Bunting (nee Gould). Annie's father was Daniel Gould, possibly related in some way to James Gould. I wouls also like to know if Anna-Maria is linked with the Mannix-Liddy clans. If you have any of these connections, please let me know, I would be very interested to try and piece my strange family history together. if you need any more details, please let me know.
