Dear Ian
Thank you for your kind offer.I have recently started searching family records for my children. My mother in law has recently been struck with a terminal illness and I found I would like to get any type of family history for the continuity factor. My mother in law is the last of our contacts with my husbands gamily and her knowledge is fairly basic and very limited.
I am looking for information on the surmane BIGGIN.I know there were four brothers who came to Australia from England.I have records of a landing by four Biggin males from the "Monteagle" in April 1853.their first names were John, Joseph, Sydney, Thomas and there is a further listing of Freak. There were also four females by the name of Sophia, Ruth, Mary and Emma.I have ascertained John and Mary were marries as they left and came back into the country on several occaisions.I am particularly interested in the male who sired a son named Allen Francis Biggin in the Western District of Victoria around 1930.(Barbara's husband (dec)).Thomas Biggin seems to have been married to Susan (maybe Sophia) and gave birth to a daughter Clara on 1 May 1861 in Tasmania.
If you could possibly point me in the right direction of different web sites to assist with this research. The Biggin branch of the family that I am interested in settled in Willaura in western Victoria where they were farmers for many years. It appears Biggin is a fairly common name in England with the name coming from several regions of the country.
Kindest regards
Sue Biggin
