Richard Rhodes family in Melbourne, 1880-1890 approximately

I am trying to find out when Richard Rhodes and his family arrived in Australia, and when they left. I cannot find any records in the UK of departures or arrivals.
The family that emigrated to Australia comprised Richard, born in 1848, his wife Elizabeth, nee Whitelock, born 1853, daughter Kathleen, born 1877 and Harold, born 1878, all except Elizabeth in Yorkshire in the Headingley, Leeds area. Elizabeth was born in Wath, Yorks.
While in Melbourne, they had two more sons, Frederick R. Rhodes, b. 1883, and Frank, b. 1886.
All family members were back in England for the 1901 census, except Harold, who joined the British Army in 1895, and was in South Africa till 1902.
When did the family arrive, and how, and when did they depart?
Any information would be welcome.
