My great grandmother was Mary Agnes Paterson, daughter of Robert Spittal Paterson and Margaret Walker. One of her brothers was Robert Buchanan Paterson.

I am fortunate to be working with Leah Jones in Australia who found both birth and voyage records for our Robert B. Paterson.

We believe that the B. Robert Paterson that you found in the 1910 census may have been Robert Buchanan Paterson, who was born on 9 November 1866 in the District of Collingwood, in the colony of Victoria, Australia.

Robert S. Paterson moved his family from Western Australia to the U.S. in 1874 per passenger records and the 1900 U.S. census.

If you look on http://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov, you can find a death record for Robert B. Paterson showing his date of death as 25 Sept 1933 along with his father's name.

Just this morning I bumped into a Ward family genealogy (out of Australia) who showed that they also had a Robert Buchanan Paterson born in 1868 at Sale. Vic, Australia. His father, however was shown as Andrew Spittall Paterson, so I'm wondering if I am looking at a brother to my Robert Spittal Paterson.
