A lot of your information reflects what I've found since originally making this post, however, I haven't found any record of Martha buried in Lamar County. And she definitely was living in Choctaw County in the census I listed.I've often wondered if the Batson was just confusion because of an accent. The part of IL her family came from was an area of mostly German immigrants. I've wondered if their German accents were preserved by living among so many other German immigrants even though the family had been in the US for quite a while. Dave's birthplace is either Va but I assume what is now WVa.He reported it as WVa on at least 1 census record so I assume he was born in the part of VA that later became WVa.His birth month is May.They didn't have a lot of children, only 3 - Lucy, Ed and George - in that order. George is my Great-grandfather.I've also traced Fannie's family to IL and then Germany, looks like she was a 2nd generation American.
