I have recently begun researching the family of Bertha Aurin (which some records apparently spell Aaron) b.abt.1828 in Saxony, Germany. She married Carl/Charles Goldberg b.abt.1851 and they lived in Morgan Co TN. They both apparently died in Morgan Co TN. Their children apparently were:
Charles William Goldberg b. 10 Apr 1852
Julius Franklin Goldberg b. 1854
Carolyn Augusta Goldberg b. 29 Jun 1856
Julie Pauline Goldberg b. 23 May 1859
Edward Goldberg b. Abt. Apr 1870

I am speculating that she is the A.B. Aurin arriving with the family on the Sarine 24Sept1849 Mew York that others have said are the Sarine arrival family of C.D.(born about 1800) and Catherine A. Aurin (born about 1801). The family emigrated from Delfzijl, Deutchland to New York on 24 Sept 1849 on board the "Sarine". Arriving with Jul and his parents, were his brothers, Gustav W. Aurin, born about 1820 (my g,g,grandfather and Civil War veteran of the U.S. Army), and C.A. Aurin, born about 1838; and his sisters, A.B. Aurin, born about 1827 and Marie C. Aurin, born about 1835. When I read the manifest of the Sarine, I do not read these names. I will get someone more expert in German than am I, but I have had some experience reading some original early and mid 1800 German script.

In addition I note that in 1860 there is in Morgan Co TN there is a family of
John Aurin b.abt.1801 Ger
Christina b.abt.1802 Ger
Julius b.abt.1845 Ger

Also in the same location 6 families away is
William Aurin b.abt.1830
Martha b.abt.1830
John 5, Catherine 3, Mary 0.5

These families seem more likely to be directly related. But in addition, Julius T Aurin is found in 1880, 1900 and 1910 Knox Co TN along with some of the other Aurins.

Other family work in Morgan Co TN has uncovered there were about 50 families who came to the county about 1849-1850 form an area on the border of Germany and Switzerland. It is interesting to do 1850 and 1860 Census searches using only born in Germany and born in Switzerland to look at these families.
