Yes, this is the Henry W. Augustine that killed Cruikshanks and fled to Texas. There is reference to this event in the archives of Stephen F. Austin University in Nacodoches Texas.

There is also a reference to this event in the letters of Henry's Cousin Thomas Woodward who helped him escape to Texas.
