Your interest in Leopold Auer prompts me to ask if by any chance you know of the location of any photos of Leopold Auer and his Masterclasses, 1900-10. I have come across one such group photo (featuring Jascha Heifetz) in an 'account' of Heifetz's career, but that is much later date.
My uncle Greogor Cherniavsky was a prize student, and won the Tchaikovsky Medal. My father and his two brothers formed the Cherniavsky trio, 1903-34 (surely a record!), and although now forgotten, were very successful as prodigies. They were, all three, life long friends of Mischa Elman and others of that ilk. Auer wrote an important ( to them) endorsment of their potential at the same time as he endorsed Elman.
Anyway, I would much ap[preciate any comments or 'leads' you can offer.
I have been trying to 'unearth' contacts for the Archives/Library of the St. Petersburg Conservatory of Music, but without success. Any leads?
Thank you for reading and, I hope, answerinbg this inquiry.
