Max E Auer was a friend of my father and his brother. The came from Germany and traveled for 3 months across the country and then returned to Germany and then each returned and settled here, living together in New York and New Jersey at some time in the 1920s. I am trying to locate just where and in looking for Max am in hopes of finding my family as my father, Karl/ Carl von Metnitz has been death since 1958 and his much older brother Gustav a few years later. Max stayed near Gus and lived in Southern California and then retired to Florida where my Uncle Gus had retired as well. Uncle Gus lived in Ohio for many years and Max may have lived there as well. My father lived in both NY and NJ working on farms and then about 1928 went west and worked on Hoover Dam, then went to the Salinas Valley where he met my mother in Chular. He ended up buying a farm in northern California where I was raised for most of my youth; 8-18. I need to find the area where they were in New York or New Jersey as I understand I may have had a brother born there about 1928. My father wanted to marry but the father would not let his daughter marry a foreigner even though he had quite a bit of money(in the thousands). I understand that this is why my father went west and left the east coast. Would love to find a possible relative and fill him in on the great father I had. I met Max Auer when he was an old man and did not know of this connection at that time. He was blind and we picked him up to take him to church. Surely need help with this if someone can help me.
