1) From the 1891 Canadian Census (Ancestry) Eliza Jane Dubois was b c1868 in Jersey and her mother Elizabeth Oben was born in Jersey c1831
2) From the 1871 Jersey Census (Ancestry) she was living in Maufant with father Philippe (b c1831), mother Elizabeth (b c1828) and siblings - Eliza Jane was b c 1868
3) From the Jersey BMD
i) Eliza Jane Aubin was b 31.01.1868 in St Saviour daughter of Philippe Aubin and Elizabeth de Ste Croix
ii) Philippe Aubin (aged 21) and Elizabeth de Ste Croix (aged 24 widow of Jean Grandin) were married in St Helier 08.09.1851 - Philippe was the son of Joseph Aubin and Elizabeth the daughter of Aaron de Ste Croix (her mother was Marie Luce)
4) If you look on familysearch.org for Philippe Aubin son of Joseph Aubin you will find his birth in 1831 - there may be more details for Joseph and the family
There are two Aubin families in Jersey which can be traced back to c1500 (the family trees are in the Société Jersiaise Library - by Langton in the 1930s) and one or two other Aubins who have come to the Island.
One family appears to be indigenous Jersey in 1500 - indeed there are odd references to Aubins in the late 13th and early 14th centuries
The other family is French - they came to the Island in c1500 from Bretteville in Normandy. I don't know which Bretteville there are at least 14 in Normandy - but there was in the 19th century an Aubin family (and there is still a hamlet 'Les Aubins') near Bretteville-sur-Ay on the Normandy Cotentin coast immediately adjacent to the Island.
As far as I can tell at the moment Eliza Jane was a descendant from the second, Normandy, family.
