I am interested in your family information. I would love to see your list of names.

The only nane that I have is Josephine Aubin.
According to the New Orleans, LA death records she was born in Cap François, Santo Domingo [now Haiti] in 1894.

The Sacramental Records of the Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans list her as the mother of several children, with Jean Dominique Mercier [a cabinet maker, born in Bordeaux france] born in New Orleans between 1814-1834. The probate of her estate in New Orleans listed these children as follows:
The petition of Dominique Mercier, residing in this city and his four sisters here after mentioned respectfully shows: that his mother Josephine Aubin died in this city aged about 68 years old, being native of Hayti, and that she had left five children all of age, to wit:
Marie Françoise Polyscine married to Jean Norwood,
Marie Louise Hortanse married to Victor Pepon,
Marie Mathurine Laetitia married to Ulysse Tiac,
Bertide married to Joseph Deberque.

Dominique's wife, [Catherine] Eulalie Goy, was also the daughter of a mother who emigrated from Santo Domingo. According to the same Sacramental Register:Catherine Eulalie GOY, dau of Elisabeth GOY native of Port-au-Prince on Santo Domingo, born 17 Mar 1818 and baptized 4 Apr 1819 at St Louis Church with sponsors being Bernard LAFOSSE and Catherine Eulalie ROCHEBLAVE, all residents of this city. Baptism Book 30, page 101.

Accoridng to the research that I have done in the New Orleans city library, there was a large group of emigrees in New Olreans from Santo Domingo in the early 1800s. I assume that they had fled the rebellion on their native island.

I have tried to find information about their Haitian origins but have not been successful so far. Perhaps you have something that you can share with me. I'd be very appreciative.

Caroline
