to start you look at marriage certificate of your father and mother to know where they were married and who their parents were, from there you have their parents and possibly from where they are from. If there are any living relatives around, ask them for information that they may have, even what may seem irrelevant, and that will give you clues as to where to look. Check out church records, these you can check at your local library as most have micorfilm access that you can order in to view, or visit a genealogy center at a Mormon church or visit their web site where you may strike on some information.
