Hi, John, is there any possibility that Ida-Adeline Aubin Gaouette might have been related to Gideon? Her eldest son, Napoleon, was born in MA about 1880/81, then their second, Abraham, was born in NY about 1882 but I cannot find them in the 1880 MA census - nor any other Gaouette.

I think she and Exias-Georges Gaouette were married in Quebec then came to MA where Napoleon was born. All their children were married in New Bedford, that is certain, between 1903 - 1910.

Any comments or anything would be of great help. I assume you've checked the 1880 Soundex, and it's a pain that the 1890 census was destroyed in that fire.

Why don't you try Richard Hebert at hebertr@cam.org - he is a Montreal genealogist and while he specializes in Heberts, he has a huge marriage database (45,000 marriages) and has access to all the records. It's $39 per family line but I'm willing to bet he can find Gideon.
