MRS. MATTIE HORN, of Davis City, received injuries in an automobile accident that occurred near Lamoni Sunday night that caused her death within an hour.
MRS. HORN and CHARLES DONALDSON, of the Bell & Donaldson garage, of Lamoni, were driving towards Lamoni at the time the accident occurred. Just ahead of them was a car in which John Olmstead and H. Bowen, who reside in Missouri south of Lamoni, and Misses Mina Rew, Mildred Jackson and Ada Atz, of Lamoni, were returning to Lamoni after taking a ride. The car in which MR. DONALDSON and MRS. HORN were riding attempted to drive around the Missouri car and they crashed into it. The smash up was terrific and MRS. HORN received injuries which caused her death within an hour. MR. DONALDSON was badly injured but will recover. The young people in the other car were not injured but for minor bruises. Both cars were badly wrecked. Help was summoned and the injured taken to Lamoni. MRS. HORN's injuries were such that little could be done for her. She died a few minutes after being taken to that city. The accident is a most unfortunate affair.
