Thanks very much for the information. I have just realised that I previously gave the incorrect birthdate - it should have been 1836 and not 1815. On Thomas Attwood's census returns his birthplace is always given as Great Parndon, Essex - and since he was born in 1836(approx) we can't get hold of a birth certificate. What you mentioned about Mary Ann Parrish was interesting, as we have found a widowed George Attwood (born approx 1815 in Great Parndon) living as a lodger with a Charlotte Parish on the 1871 and 1881 censuses - we had thought that this George might have been Thomas' father.
I shall have to investigate further!
