Nell,
This Sarah Mitchell Atterberry was probably a cousin of Charles. His mother is believed to have been Sarah Mitchell (Yacksley) and daughter of John Mitchell and his wife Elizabeth.John d in Prince George's Co, MD in 1752 and his will, written in 1748 mentions daughter Sarah Atterberry. He also had at least 2 sons who had daughters named Sarah. One of them may be the Sarah you seek.
Cousins marrying seems to have been fairly common in this family. One of Charles' sons, John, is said to have married his cousin Nancy. We do not know her maiden name.
Another example is the marriage between Levisa, daughter of Thomas and Jesse, son of John. Thomas and John were brothers.Another of Thomas' daughters, Elenor also married an Atterbury (sic) cousin named James but he has not been positively identified. He was once thought to have been James son of James, but this is no longer thought to be so.
Good luck, and if I can be of help, let me know.
Marguerite
