Leonard! What was the source for the name Leonard? Many of these Wises have had more than one given name. Alpha's and Omega's parents are known to us Wise researchers as Ivan/Evan Wise and Elizabeth "Eliza" ___. Eliza has various spellings to her maiden surname- she is variously known to my kin as Elizabeth Haller Holt, Elizabeth Hallow Holt, or Elizabeth Hall. Iven and Eliza aren't my direct line. I'll ask the kin-searchers if anyone has narrowed Eliza's name down further. If you are sure that Alpha and Omega were sisters to Martha Caroline Wise, then Martha Caroline Wise was indeed a granddaughter to James Wise and Permelia Miller through their son Evan/Iven.
If you are aware of Alpha and Omega, might you know what happened to them after the 1880 census? They were both widowed on that census before the age of twenty. Ouch.
Here are the censuses where the Wise researchers have identified the family of Evan/Ivan Wise and wife Elizabeth/Eliza, as far as I know. The censuses where the census taker used initials in place of given names are not exact. I don't know if this is because the census taker misheard the initial given for a person's name, or if the person had more than one given name. It may also be that I misunderstood information given to me. Please let me know what you think. My elders are pretty sure of this information, but there is always room for improvement.
