I have seen references to Wyatt Atkins in connection with Spencer Atkins of SC. I do not know the connection, but, Wyatt is a name that has continued in the Louisiana Atkins family until this date.
Spencer and Milly Atkins had a grandson (son of William B and Martha Anne Atkins), William Alfred Atkins, who had a son, Spencer Wyatt Atkins. Spencer Wyatt was born in 1891 in LA, and died in 1931 in Arcadia, La. Spencer Wyatt, Jr., was born in 1923.
William Alfred, and at least some of his children, were from Claiborne Parish Louisiana, and many of them are burried there.
There is certainly a possibility that Spencer had a brother named Wyatt, and that is the purpose of this post. I would like to learn more about a Wyatt Atkins of Virginia or South Carolina in the late 1700's. It is possible that the elder Wyatt owned some property in MS or AL in the 1830's or so that may have been adjacent to Spencer's land.
If anyone is working on Wyatt Atkins of the mid 1800's, I would be interested in working on it with you. And all of us that are related to this line would appreciate any suggestions or further information on Wyatt and/or Spencer Atkins. Ed in Louisiana
