Hello Sylvia:
My name is James Johnson, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and I am a member (#3581)
of the Alberta Genealogical Society.
I am researching the greater family "Teskey", of which my mother, Margaret Jane Teskey, was a member.
The Teskeys of Quebec (early 1800's) were
inter-married with the Robert Atkins family
of the same place, Lacolle Township, Huntington/St.Johns Countys, Quebec.
Be all that as it may, in my research I have
found an enumeration in the 1871 Census of
Ontario for:
JOHN ATKINS, male,age 26,birthplace-Ontario;
religion: Wesleyan Methodist; origin:English;
occupation: Farmer; District: Lambton County
(004), sub-district: Warwick (1); Division 1;
Page: 19; National Archives of Canada micro-
-film reel C-9896; Reference: RG31 - Statistics Canada.
In all probability, this is the John Atkins that you are looking for.
Birth and marriage certificates can be obtained from the Ontario Provincial Vital Statistics department, for a nominal fee.

send you copies of what pertinent info that I may have, or will get in the near future.
From a cursory look at all the info that I have at hand, it appears that John Atkins may have been a member of an Atkins family that came to Ontario at the turn of the 19th century.
I will attempt a close look at the before and after census' for other links, and forward
results of same to you, via the post.
