Debbie: My wife and I have been working on a history of people moved out of Shenandoah National Park and the Atkins family is one we have been researching. Yes, Spencer M. Atkins (ca. 1790-ca. 1855) is a son of Ambrose Atkins (1754-Dec. 4, 1833). Spencer had son French S. who married Rhoda A. Pullen (daughter of William and Rhoda Pullen) and Robert (b. 1810-1820 and mentioned as a son in Rappahannock Chancery Causes No. 871-1882). According to census records there appear to have been two other sons and four daughters but I have no info on those. Spencer married Mildred Brandon, daughter of Ezekiel Brandon and Susan Ann Unknown. Mildred born 1798. Ambrose was a revolutionary war soldier (Pension Records S. 6543). Ambrose had at least ten children. He was born in Orange County, Virginia, the son of James Atkins and Elizabeth Smith. Elizabeth was the daughter of Edward Smith and Mary Bell and Mary Bell was the daughter of Roger Bell. That's as far back as we can go for sure. If you have any questions on this Email me and maybe I can answer some of them. Chuck Perdue
