The first America Atkins (atkinson) came from Wales. There were 3 brothers - Daniel - David - Lemuel. The Atkinson worked for the king and came to America. First to Hawkins county which was then known as Greene County, north carolina at that time. They were also in Georgia and McMinn county before coming to Monroe County, Tenn.
Lemuel atkins died in 1886 and is buried near tellico plains at notchey creek. he was married to frankie gooden. their kid 1 is: Josiah / joseph william born 12-30-1819, 4-11-1889. Married elizabeth watson. and married lucinda mcdonald mason. kid2: Zelpha married henry watson. Kid3: bill atkinson, a methodist bishop lived in little rock, ARK, and had one son John.
