Janet, I think I've found Rickles middle name. What do you think of this? In 1850 Yancey County Census, Dwelling 319. Nicholas Adkins 35, Nelson 13, David 10, Tibithia 33, Sarah 9, Nancy 7, Elmyra 5, Mary L. 2. In Dwelling 323: William Adkins 43, Nicholas 18, Isaac 16, Jason 13, Swinfield 1, Isabel 38, Nancy 8 Sarah 5. These are the only Adkins found in 1850 Yancey County Census.

1860 Yancey County Census; Dwelling 729. Bickles(Rickles) 44 born in N. C. Delitha 43, David W. 20, Sarah 19, Mira 15, Mary L. 12, Sydney 9, Susan 7, Delila 5, Spencer 1.
Dwelling 728;Williams family,
Dwelling 733; Isaac and family
Dwelling 774; Rickles age 28
Wilson and family.
