Johnnie Atkins possibly of Gregory County, SD ( WWII Soldier)

I am trying to learn some identify for Johnnie Atkins who appears in my mother's "Pre-Marriage" photo album. The photo would have been taken in the late 1920's or early 1930's so I am assuming he may have been involved in World War II. Most of my mother's life at this time was centered around her home near Fairfax, Gregory County, South Dakota. I have no other clues other than this photo for Johnnie.
