Mary Atkins m. Wm. Holman, Illinois, mid 1800s
Hi, a cousin tells me that my gg grandmother's maiden name was Atkins.I knew her only asMary Holman..since her husband's name, William, is a common Holman name there were so many I couldn't trace her that way.She had a daughter named Martha Ellen.
And I have a portrait of her and William taken on a leave during the Civil War..they were in Illinois because he enlisted in the Union out of Illinois...She has very dark brown hair and looks to be late 20s,early 30s, I think. There were other children, but I don't know their names. My grandmother mentioned her family being from Kentucky, I think..I won't rule out Tennessee, but Ky. seems to stick in my mind more. There was red hair in the family, although she didn't get it..and she played piano. Does any of this connect with anyone? I'd sure love to hear from you if it does, or if you have any ideas!
