I am researching Mariah and Emily Atkins. Both are buried in the Conner Cemetery, Hamilton County, TN
Our family has been told that William Jefferson Moore was a close friend to Thomas Palmer. They married sisters. Palmer married Emily Adkins (Atkins) on Sept 20, 1786, in Winchester, Frederick County, VA; and Moore married Mariah Atkins (Adkins), maybe on the same day. Thomas Palmer was born Nov 28, 1760 in Winchester, Loudon County, VA.
Palmer moved from Cocke County, TN to present day Hamilton County, TN in Dec 1834 and Mariah Atkins Moore may have been part of the group. All four are both buried in the Conner Cemetery.
Our Roark-Conner Association is trying to get a historical marker erected to honor both of these Rev. War soldiers. We need proof that William Jefferson Moore served in the Rev. War. We have not been able to locate any records for William Jefferson Moore from the National Archives.
