I don't know a lot. I have found Galen on one Susquehanna Co., PA census in 1880 and on the 1900 Tioga Co. NY census. He was born in Vermont. His parents were both born in Vermont according to both those census reports. He was probably married twice. He was born in Nov. 1821. My gg grandmother married him in about 1874 prob in Harmony, Susquehanna, PA. They had at least three childen, Maud born 1875, Josephine b. 1879 and Harry born in 1881. There may have been others. But Galen was 25 years older than my gggrandmother, so more than likely Galen was married previously. I have not found him on the 1850, 1860 or 1870 census records yet, but I haven't been researching him for very long and just haven't had the time. On the 1900 census Galen is 78 years old and purportedly md. 53 years. But he and my gggrandmother appear to be seprated or divorced because they are living in separate counties in 1900. Galen died in 1903 and is buried with my gggrandmother (Emma Morse Atkins) at the Evergreen Cem. in Owego, Tioga Co., NY. Galen made his living as a shoe maker and he was probably a deaf mute at least according to the 1880 PA census. I do not know who Galen's other childen might be and I do not know who is parents were. I suppose it is possible that Galen is your relatives father. If so, I suggest searching out Susquehanna Co., Pa. Good hunting. And if you find out Galen is some sort of kin, please let me know.
