According to genealogy information I received from my father, John Henry (Jack) Atkerson, Rev. Elias Atkerson was my Great- Great Grandfather. (Methodist preacher)He had five sons.Four of those sons fought in the Civil War (Two for the Union and two for the Confederacy).None of the four returned after the Civil War to Tennessee or Kentucky. The fifth son, George, moved with his father to Simpson County, Kentucky just a few miles north of Sumner County, TN. (Probably 1839)
George W. is the father of Andrew Winfield Atkerson, my grandfather. George was born 1818, died 1885 and is buried in Blackjack Cemetery in Simpson Co., (Franklin the county seat approximately 40 miles north of Nashvillew, TN.)
Elias born November 27, 1781, died September 5, 1855 and is buried in Blackjack Cemetery.I have seen his burial stone.
If you wish I can dig through some of my papers and find the names of Elias' othe sons.
Do you have information as to the father of Elias Atkerson?
