My name is Darren Hardman. My mother's maiden name is ATHA and they have an awful lot of info. on Capt. George Athey. Some is as follows: George was born 1642 arrived in MD in 1662 as a bond servant to Thomas Dent. His 1st wife was Ann Moorewood who died prior to 1686. They had one son John, born between 1675 and 1680. He then Married Sarah Marsh, who was born 1666 and was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Neall) Marsh. They had two sons Thomas Born Between 1695 and 1700. George jr. who was born in 1700.
George Athey served in the colonial Militia as a Capt. of foot about 1686; was a planter with extensive land holdings in Charles Co. (later Prince Georges Co.) MD; Gave land for a protestant Episcopal church near broad creek; And died in Prince Georges Co. March 7, 1710.
