In follow up to queries on ATHERTON family is MI and NY, I am researching the ATHERTON surname. My research is on Cornelius ATHERTON of Luzerne Co, PA. He had a son Asahel DOB unknown. Asahle had a son, Asahel, Jr. who married Rebecca Carver. Asahel Jr. died before 8 April 1817.

Cornelius is believed to be a son of James ATHERTON. He is a DAR Patriot having produce firearms for the State of NY during the Revolution. At that time he live in Amenia, Dutchess Co) NY. Later moved to Canterbury CT and then to Luzerne Co. PA.

I believe we may be working on the same family and I would like to share information.
