Looking for Ame Atherton
Posted by: Ame Renshaw Choate Date: June 02, 1998 at 02:34:22
  of 1678

I was named after my great-aunt, Ame Atherton Willard. She and my grandmother, Mary Atherton Willard Choate obviously have the Athertons in the family. They're Mass. Athertons and the Willard line daughtered off when Aunt Ame died in the 70's.

I have a sneaking suspicion that our line of the Athertons were Acadians - moving in and out of Mass during the revolution, but am not certain. I >DO< know that the reason for the strange spelling of my first name (means 'Soul' in French) is "that's the way the first Ame Atherton spelled it (according to Aunt Ame).) Anyway, the line would be pre-revolutionary; married into the Willard line, and probably Bostonian.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ame
