MATILDA ATHERTON-abt 1740 MA or CT
Posted by: Penny Kresl Date: May 29, 1998 at 11:47:38
  of 1678

I am looking for connections to Matilda Atherton b. abt 1740 in MA.
She m. my 6th great grandfather, John Chamberlain probably in MA but it may have been CT. Their son, John was a Revolutionary
Soldier ran away from Yale Univesity and fought at the Battle of Brandywine and was captured by the British and put on a prisoner ship in Delaware Bay, but lived to tell of it. I have a hand written document from his grandson telling the story.

I am curious at to whom Matilda descends from? 3 generations later, my ggg James Chamberlain was named James Atherton Chamberlain. They migrated to NY where he
married Elsie Williams(direct descendant of Roger Williams) From Steuben Co, NY they settled in Rock co, WI by the 1830's.

Does Matilda look familiar to any other Atherton researcher ?

Thanks.

Penny
