My husband is the son of a descendant of Wm. Charles. His great-grandfather was James Thomas Atherton, the third child of Wm. Charles.

We haven't a great deal of information on W.C. and had not heard the settlement story. Lucius Atherton is deceased. My husband's grandfather was a brother to Lucius. There is a cousin who has more information but is out of the country at this time.

I do have a copy of William Charles Atherton's will which I found on microfilm at the library. It is a poor copy but I will be happy to try to send it to you.
You also might be interested in some of the information on the Atherton Brothers and their mills in Pickens Co. GA. There were three brothers, William Charles, James and Thomas who came to the US with their father. They settled first in Cohoes, NY then later came south. Let me know if you would like me to send the copy of the will and the history from the "History of Pickens County".
