Dear Brad, I wish I could spend more time in answering your questions. I love this genealogy hobbie and meeting cousins of mine or my husband. There is or was a book you could buy titled, LINCOLN'S BIRTH COUNTY (Larue County) in the CIVIL WAR. I wish I could find a copy, myself. Perhaps there is a copy at Lincoln's birthplace in Kentucky. It was written by Edward Benningfield. I only have small sections of it. It says that Pete Atherton went to school with Sarah and Abe Lincoln on Knob Creek. The school house was located about two miles north of the Knob Creek Farm at a point which is now Athertonville. The information I have says that Eunice Atherton was born in Hardin Co Kentucky in the 1700's and that she died after 1850. She married Stephen Dever on 22 March 1806 in Hardin County Kentucky. Stephen Dever was born about 1780 or 1790 and died after 1850. Eunice and Stephen had Benjamin Dever from which my husband is descended. Benjamin was born in 1814 in Hardin Co. Kentucky. He was married the first time to Sarah Daily on 8 August 1833 and divorced this wife on 18 September 1860. He remarried Sarah Dunn Neff on May 6 1858 in LaRue County Kentucky. Sarah Daily Dever took the kids and went to Kansas. Miles Dever stayed in Kansas and his sons went to California. Benjamin had the following children: Aaron Royal Miles Nancy J. Henry Clay Mary Ellen Steven James Thomas I think, but am not sure that Eunice's dad was Aaron Atherton. I do not have much on this family line but would appreciate anymore information you could give me. Hope this helps, Marsha Notify Administrator about this message?
