What a noble thing to try to do! I have Atherton ansestors from MA and can only hope they are connected to your found pictures. Caroline Maria Atherton was born in 1835 in Lowell, MA and died in Poughkeepsie, NY. Her father was Nathan Atherton, but he was probably long gone before pictures existed. By the way, Caroline married Josiah Lockwood. Thank you for your effort even if these names don't match.
