My great grandfather wrote a note and left to his descendents.
The contents of the note follows:
"I Frank Ater do hereby do describe to the best of my ability my ancestors. My Grandfather, Richard Ater came to Illinois from Pickway County Ohio. He married Maggie Estherton near Monticello, Il. My father, Byron S. Ater was also born near Monticello 1870. I Frank Ater was born north of Monticello in 1891.
My Mother's mother came from Virginia and mother's father from Kentucky and they were married in Cerro Gordo, IL. Mother one brother Ed Gossett and one step sister, Mary who married Bill Lichty. John Gossett married Lillie Dodd. Father had three brothers, Henry, Will and Frank and four sisters, Hattie Pittman, Iva Still, Effie Kregger and Erma Peck."
I have searched long for the Ater connection with little success. Anyone with a connection would be greatly appreciated.
