looking for any Asel/Assel (different spellinigs in the 19th century).

I think, there is something for you:

Friedrich Assel, born in Hatzenbühl/Germany ca. 1771, emigrated to Speier in Russia in 1809. (This must be your Schpier!). Speier, named after the historic town at the Rhine river, was a colony of Palatines in Ukrainia.

Friedrich had children as follows:
Friedrich, Stephan;
and, born in Russia: Magdalena, Anna and Matteas.

Thats it for the moment.
