I'm an American Asprey. My Great Grandfather came from England. As I understand it he was a Bobbie (sorry if I have the wrong spelling). My Grandfather lived in Iowa and then California. My Father lived in Iowa, Chicago, California but mostly in New Mexico where he still resides today.I live in Colorado with brothers in Oregon, Alabama and California. An Uncle (the author) in Spain and a maiden Aunt in Pokheepsie New York.
We are Caucasion (as far as I know) and never had anything to do with slaves or slavery. From what I had heard, the origin of the Asprey name was from France from Aspre' but that may just have been speculation.I had never heard of an Austrian connection. It is funny that others have innocently toyed with the Yerpsa name not knowing a connection there.I used to call myself Yerpsa Mot when I was young.
My family has often speculated on our origins and connections.I have heard that we are cousins (distant) to the Asprey jewelers family and they certainly were kind to those members of our family that visited England.
