I was given the name Betty Asplund or Aspland by my uncle. She was a cousin of my grandmother Lillian Carin Swanson(married name Swilling and later Schilling)Betty had a son who went to Rensallier Polytechnic Institute in New York and is an engineer. Could that be you? My grandmother was orphaned at the age of three when her family was killed in the Spanish flu epidemic in 1918. She lost her mother Hilda Elizabeth Swanson , her sisters Hilda 18 years and Ethel 12 years. Her mothers maiden name was Lundin and she had a sister Anna Tarnstrom who helped raise my grandmother. My grandmothers father was Charles V.E. Swanson who emigrated from Sweeden, Stockholm I think sometime before 1898 when he married Hilda in the Borrough of Queens. He also died from complications of the flu in Arizona where he was sent to recover. He had a sister named Mia Johnson who had a husband named Eric who was a funeral director in Manhatten. Does this story sound familiar? All of theese people were Sweedish I believe, but I think the Lundin's were in America a generation before the Swansons.
