My wife's gggg grandmother was adopted. The only information I have on her birth parents is that her fathers name (I assume surname) was ASPINALL or a variant spelling. The father appears to have been from around the Dover, New Hampshire area. Her adoptive father's autobiography says that the baby girl, who he named Abigail, was given to him by a man who said his wife had died and he could not care for her. I am looking for a man with the surname of ASPINALL (or varient spelling) who had a wife who died around 1833. Abigail was given to her adoptive father in 1834.
I suppose there is also the possibility that the girl may have been stolen but this may be a stretch, I only have the adoptive father's word to go by. Hense, the reason I have not given his name. ( to prevent prejudice). Ok, So there are the clues I have. Any help would be appreciated. This womans birth and death are the only parts of her life I have left to put together. She is a very colorfull woman and it would be great if I could get these two pieces of her life puzzle put in place. Thanks
